SLEEP AID / SLEEPING PILL DETOX PROGRAM

New Beginnings Recovery Center (NBRC) provides detoxification from sleeping pills or sleep aids on an outpatient basis. Discontinuing sleep aids use without medical supervision can produce severe insomnia, withdrawal symptoms and make you feel just plain miserable. Withdrawal from sleep aids besides being uncomfortable can be downright dangerous if not properly managed.

Many people unwittingly have become dependent on benzodiazepine prescription medications prescribed by seemingly well intentioned doctors. Whatever your case may be, sleep aid dependency can be a harrowing experience and coming off them a lengthy and painful ordeal if not managed by experienced medical professionals.  We have various methods of helping people get off of sleep aids.  If you are suffering with any withdrawal symptoms and it has has a profound negative effect on you life - we can help.  Whatever your situation is....there is hope.

The Z Drug Class

This class of drugs are called sedative hypnotics.  The drugs listed below belong to a class of drugs called Z drugs.  These drugs have a similar chemical makeup to the benzodiazepine class of drugs.  NBRC offers a safe detoxification program from sleep aids such as Ambien®, Ambien CR® and Lunesta® on an Out-Patient basis.

Ambien® (zolpidem) Sonata® (zaleplon)
Ambien CR® (zolpidem CR) Zimovane® (zopiclone)
Lunesta® (eszopiclone) Stilnoct® (zolipdem tartrate)

Sleeping Pill Detoxification

The detoxification process from sleeping pills is similar the benzodiazepine class of drugs.  Many people unwittingly have become dependent on sleep aid medications prescribed by seemingly well intentioned doctors.  Sleeping pill dependency can be a harrowing experience and coming off them a difficult ordeal if not managed by experienced medical professionals.

How it Works:

Intake Interview

A preliminary assessment by telephone or in person is conducted and the patient is evaluated to determine if they are eligible for the outpatient program.  The various treatment options, length of treatment, and the fee structure are all discussed.  We take into consideration a patient's complete history including length of usage, quantities used, past abuse if applicable, physical aspects and general health when preparing the medication protocol.  The treatment plan is highly individualized and great care is take to determine the appropriate treatment path.  We welcome the family to be a part of this process and we take whatever time is necessary address any concerns the patient and family may have.

Pre-Procedure Medical Evaluation

The detoxification process begins with a complete medical history and physical examination. This will include a laboratory analysis and urine toxicology screen. A medication protocol is written that is based on the result of the initial interview and assessment.  We can never know in advance exactly how long this detoxification process will be.  Our clinicians remain a part of the multi-disciplinary team that cares for the patient throughout detoxification.

Taper Phase

Is the process of slowly reducing (tapering) the sleeping pill medications over time.  Additional medications may be prescribed to address any symptoms that may occur as a result of this tapering.

NOTE:   Sleeping pill cessation can be difficult and in some cases impossible when attempting to accomplish the detox in a short period of time.  If you have been taking sleeping pills for any significant length of time, then the detox program could take several weeks.

Patience will be the key to getting completely free from this dependency. The goal of treatment is to taper at a pace that does not compromise safety and comfort. You will have daily access to staff by telephone and email throughout your detox.

OPTIONAL OUT-PATIENT COUNSELING THERAPY

Although support counseling is included in the cost of the detox, patients have the option to attend an optional outpatient counseling program while in detox run by a team of experienced licensed Certified Addiction Professionals. We offer several group therapy options that will fit any schedule.

Psychiatric Evaluation Included

NBRC offers a variety of Psychiatric Services from Evaluation and Follow Up Treatment. Psychiatric Services are utilized to treat patients with Dual Diagnosis Disorder, or Co-Occurring Disorder. Frequently mental health disorders can lie underneath and in some cases fuel substance dependency. Some of the therapies utilized include Psychotherapy, Bio-Feedback Therapy, Hypnosis Therapy and Medication Management

All patients enrolled in our programs, have the option for a no cost Psychiatric Evaluation performed by a Board Certified Psychiatric staff member in addition to the basic services of each program.  Ongoing Psychiatric Services are also an option for our patients.

So now those that have struggled with depression, anxiety or any other co-occurring disorder, have the opportunity to get the substance dependency and the underlying psychiatric issues treated concurrently.
