Drug and Alcohol Detoxificxation Protocols

Out-patient detoxification is not just about giving drugs to addicted patients. Carefully designed Drug and Alcohol Detoxification Protocols are individualized and engineered to include in some cases a combinations of medications to best insure a successful detox. In some cases, Drug and Alcohol Detoxification Protocols may include the detoxification more than one addictive drug that the client wishes to simultaneously detox from. In this case,

Effective Drug and Alcohol Detoxification Protocols should take into consideration contraindications, interactions and other pertinent information.   The goal is to balance the right combimation of medications that address withdrawal symptoms and at the same time reduce the cravings that are typically associated the the detoxification process.

A Significant Other

Publish On 11-20-2009 , 11:12 AM

A Significant Other

In many cases, a significant other may be required as a part of the detox protocol for patients in an Out-Patient detox. It is the function of a significant other to supervise, monitor and dispense drugs necessary for detoxification that should not be in the hands of the substance dependant patient. A careful screening process should take place in choosing a significant other. The chosen person should not have had any history of substance abuse in his or her past.
