Finding out that a family member has a drug addiction, alcohol problem or behavioral issue can be extremely worrying, but even more so when that family member is an adolescent.  The biggest problem when we talk about teenagers drug use and abuse is that parents become aware of it very late. Teens try their best to conceal the fact that they are using drugs or that they have become addicted to them. And then, even after becoming aware parents are not ready to believe that their beloved child is a drug taker.  In effect, parents become a part of the problem.

This is a matter of life and death.

The drugs available on the street and right in our own medicine cabinets are highly addictive.  It take only a few times of usage to become physically addicted, thus facing a lifetime challenge of facing the disease of addiction.

There are some special warning signs that can’t be missed and they will definitely help you to find out the truth.  If your child …

• Has some really unpleasant changes in his/her appearance, especially glassy eyes
• Suddenly becomes really violent, hostile towards others and uses slurred speech
• Has some really unpleasant changes in his/her appearance
• Constantly steals or borrows or is asking for money
• Becomes very apathetic
• Has no interest in anything, doesn't think about future
• Frequently lies and plays truant

NBRC holds the following licenses with the State of Florida (DCF). We offer a full range adolescent substance abuse services: NBRC offers detoxification of adolescents from any substance.  We also offer Interventions and Substance Abuse Evaluations, Group and Individual Out patient Counseling.  We can perform Psychiatric Evaluations and give families assistance with Marchman and Baker Act procedures.

It’s no secret that teenagers are challenging dynamic individuals with their own set of identity issues and problems. New Beginnings Recovery Center is fully licensed by the state of Florida to detox adolescents and takes pride in developing specific protocols designed for the fast paced life of today’s teens. But our concern and help doesn't stop there. We also have a fully licensed staff of therapists to assist the adolescent in life skill development, self-esteem issues, developing healthy sexual attitudes and behaviors and an increased awareness of the problems associated with drug and alcohol abuse.

"I started using drugs when I moved to a new area at 11 years old. By the time I started high school, I was on a collision course of drug use. I kept making the same bad choices and could not stop myself. I needed to stop the world and get off for a while in order to get clean. Then I met Sally. I tried to stop using but I kept relapsing.

Sally is the most awesome counselor in the world! She helped me to take responsibility and realize that I am the one who needs to earn my family's trust back.
