Detoxification from methadone poses additional issues that require an experienced and knowledgeable medical staff. New Beginnings Detox (NBD) has the staff, knowledge, experience and ability to detox methadone patients on an Out-Patient basis at a faster rate and more comfortably than ever before. Detoxification from methadone takes longer than from short acting opiates such as
heroin, oxycodone, Vicodin® or Lorcet®.
METHADONE DETOXIFICATION
New Beginnings Detox utilizes various methods to manage methadone and opiate withdrawal symptoms to ensure complete comfort during detoxification. Having sucessfully detoxed hundreds of patients in recent years, our finely tuned medication and treatment protocols are extremely refined and highly effective. Let's just say we have it down to a "science". Keeping patients comfortable throughout the entire detox process is our obsession. We do this by utilizing a number of extremly effective medications and threatment methods.

- interim medications may be utilized until such a time that patient is ready for Suboxone® induction

How it Works:
Intake Interview and Psychosocial Assessment
A preliminary assessment is conducted and the patient is evaluated to determine if they are eligible for the Out-Patient Program. The NBD Program requirements, the various treatment options, and the fee structure are all discussed. A confidential interview and intake and orientation is conducted. Then, a psychosocial assessment is performed by a member of our clinical staff who is a Certified Addiction Professional [CAP].
Pre-Procedure Medical Evaluation
The detoxification process begins with all NBD patients receiving a complete medical history and physical examination. This may include a laboratory analysis and urine toxicology screen. Our doctors remain a part of the multi-disciplinary team that cares for the patient throughout detoxification
Induction Phase - Beginning the Process of Detoxification
The Induction Phase is the medically monitored startup of detox. Interim medications are prescribed for a period of time initially to allow transition from methadone to SUBOXONE®. After close monitoring, SUBOXONE® is prescribed when an opioid-dependent individual has abstained from using opioids for 16–24 hours and is in the early stages of opioid withdrawal. Other medications are prescribed at this time to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings, assist with sleep and reduce anxiety.
Stabilization Phase – Controlling the Cravings
The Stabilization Phase has begun when the patient no longer has cravings for opiates.
Taper Phase – Getting Free
The Taper Phase is reached when the patient is doing well on a steady dose of SUBOXONE®. The patient is then stepped-down from the SUBOXONE® therapy until they are drug-free. The entire detox including the taper is typically over 6-8 weeks.
 
OUT-PATIENT COUNSELING THERAPY
All patients attend an Out-Patient counseling program while in detox run by a team of experienced licensed Certified Addiction Professionals. We offer several group therapy options that will fit any schedule.
