New Beginnings Detox [NBD] offers a safe benzodiazepine detoxification program on an Out-Patient basis.
Discontinuing benzodiazepine use without medical supervision can produce seizures and convulsions, which can be life threatening.
Withdrawal from benzodiazepine abuse can be extremely uncomfortable. Some additional side effects from this addiction are; muscle cramps, nausea, diarrhea, drowsiness, lack of coordination and loss of appetite. We can provide a medically supervised detoxification from any benzodiazepine.
How the program works:
Intake Interview and Psychosocial Assessment
A preliminary assessment is conducted and the patient is evaluated to determine if they are eligible for the Out-Patient Program. The NBD Program requirements, the various treatment options, length of treatment, and the fee structure are all discussed. A confidential interview and intake and orientation is conducted. Afterward, a psychosocial assessment is performed by a member of our clinical staff who is a Certified Addiction Professional [CAP].
Pre-Procedure Medical Evaluation
The detoxification process begins with all NBD patients receiving a complete medical history and physical examination. This may include a laboratory analysis and urine toxicology screen. Our clinicians remain a part of the multi-disciplinary team that cares for the patient throughout detoxification
Induction Phase - Beginning the Process of Detoxification
The Induction Phase is the medically monitored startup of therapy. Medications may be prescribed at this time to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings, assist with sleep and reduce anxiety.
Stabilization Phase – Controlling the Cravings
The Stabilization Phase has begun when the patient no longer has cravings for benzodiazepines.
Taper Phase – Getting Free
The Taper Phase is reached when the patient is doing well on prescribed medications and cravings have been minimized. The patient is then stepped-down from the medications until they are drug-free.
NOTE: Benzodiazepine detoxification is difficult when attempting to accomplish the detox in a short period of time. If you have been on benzodiazepines for any significant length of time, then the detox could take between 2-12 months, and longer in some cases if you have been on benzodiazepines for several years. It took a long time to get to where you are today, so you must be patient to be completely free from this addiction. The exact length of time can be estimated at time of assessmen, Every patient reacts differently, so it is difficult to know in advance the exact amount of time necessary for a safe and comfortable detoxification. The goal is to taper at the quickest pace that does not compromise safety and comfort.
You will be required to come to our office weekly for the first 6 weeks. If additional time is required, then visits will be every 2 weeks until detoxification is completed. You will have daily access to staff by telephone and email throughout your detox.
OUT-PATIENT COUNSELING THERAPY
All patients have the option to attend an Out-Patient counseling program while in detox. Therapy is provided by a team of experienced licensed Certified Addiction Professionals.
We offer several group therapy options that will fit any schedule.

THE BENZODIAZEPINES
Xanax Addiction

Xanax (Alprazolam) is prescription tranquilizer which depresses the nervous system in a way similar to alcohol. Xanax has found its way from pharmacies to drug dealers, and is being abused by young, healthy people who want to get high. These club-hopping, twenty-something, casual "Xannie poppers" are using the drug in combination with other stimulants, from alcohol to cocaine.
Valium Addiction

Valium (Diazapam) is a benzodiazepine with properties of being a sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, amnestic and muscle relaxant drug. Valium is generally used to treat short term moderate to severe anxiety or insomnia. The drug has been shown to lead to the development of tolerance, physiological and psychological dependency when used for long periods.
Klonopin Addiction

Klonopin (Clonazepam) is sometimes used recreationally, when used for this function they are often referred to by the slang term "clammies", or "Klonnies" most commonly as a secondary drug to increase the pleasure resulting from a primary drug, or possibly to lessen or prevent some of the primary drug's negative side effects.
Rohypnol Addiction

Although Rohypnol (Flunitrazepam) has become widely known in USA for its use as a date-rape drug, it is used more frequently as a recreational drug. It is used by high school and college students, rave party attendees, and heroin and cocaine users (who call a dose of flunitrazepam a "roofie") for recreational purposes. Long-term use of flunitrazepam can result in psychological and physical dependence and the appearance of withdrawal symptoms when the drug is discontinued.
